About
Nestled in the heart of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Restaurant La Cabaña Del Tio Tom offers a warm and inviting culinary experience that captures the essence of traditional Mexican flavors with a modern touch. Located on Periférico Poniente, in Barrio de Fatima, this charming spot stands out for its dedication to freshness, quality, and an inviting atmosphere that makes every visit memorable.
What really shines here is the attention to detail in each dish. The tacos al pastor are a standout—grilled to perfection with a seasoning that speaks of authentic Mexican street food. The balance of flavors is enhanced by elements like the tangy, lightly sweetened hibiscus flower drink, which refreshes the palate without overpowering it. Simple accompaniments like radishes or cucumbers could elevate these flavors even more, but the current preparation already delights.
The restaurant also embraces family dining with its clean, spacious environment and a dedicated play area for children, making it a great destination for both a leisurely breakfast and casual meals. Speaking of breakfast, the complete sets here, which include regional bread, fresh fruit, orange juice, and refillable coffee, offer a wholesome start to the day. The staff’s warm hospitality enhances the experience, creating a feeling of being welcomed into a local home.
While some have noted that the pricing is slightly higher compared to other local eateries and that service can occasionally be slow, the quality of the food and the genuine care in preparation more than compensate. The venue also supports celebrations with a private space allowing live music, adding a festive vibe for special occasions.
In summary, Restaurant La Cabaña Del Tio Tom is a destination where traditional flavors meet thoughtful presentation. It’s a place where every plate tells a story of careful seasoning and regional pride, wrapped in an atmosphere that is both family-friendly and inviting. Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty breakfast or savoring a dinner with friends, this restaurant promises a satisfying and authentic taste of Chiapas.
“ Me gustaron muchois tacos, los cuales pasaron a la plancha. La Jamaica, deliciosa, poca azúcar y era flor de Jamaica. Quizá estaría bien, acompañar con rabanitos o pepinos. Buen sazón de la carne al pastor. ”
